Hargraves Lookout

The main platform is a short stroll from the parking area and is described as step-free. Other platforms give you slightly different angles. The optional track out toward Panorama Point is a separate, narrow ridge walk with a less defined path and exposed edges. Treat it as a rough walk, not as part of the easy platform visit. Access information for the site is mixed, so verify the setup if you need a specific accessibility feature.

From the platforms, look over the wooded Megalong Valley and across toward Kanimbla Valley and the ridges around Narrow Neck. For a photo, use the nearest treetops as a foreground against the wider valley; the lookout's different platforms give you a few angles to try. In westerly winds, hang gliders launched from nearby Mount Blackheath may soar over Kanimbla Valley.

Hargraves Lookout opened to the public in 1915, developed by the Blue Mountains Shire's New Sights Committee. It is named for Blackheath pioneer William Hargraves, who built walking tracks around Medlow.

Plan this as a picnic stop and bring food; no café or food vendor is listed at the lookout. Parking sits beside the platforms, and toilets and picnic facilities are reported on site. Potable water is not confirmed, so bring drinking water rather than relying on a tank or tap.
