Sylvia Falls is a stepped waterfall on Valley of the Waters Creek in the Wentworth Falls area of Blue Mountains National Park. Water runs over dark rock ledges beneath rainforest and fern cover. It’s a rewarding continuation if you’re already heading to Empress Falls, rather than a quick roadside stop.
Follow the Valley of the Waters Track past Empress Falls; Sylvia Falls is a few hundred metres farther on. The return walk from the hut is about 2 km, with many steps and a steep climb back. Sections can become impassable after rain, so check track conditions and weather before setting out.
Water spills over several connected ledges into a rocky creek, framed by rainforest. The flow changes with rainfall, so the falls may run lightly or strongly. For a photo, use a wider view that keeps the linked tiers and creek together; a tight crop loses how the cascade fits into its setting.
