The walkThe Glentruim Forest Viewpoint Walk is an out-and-back from the Macpherson Memorial to Creagan…

The Glentruim Forest Viewpoint Walk is an out-and-back from the Macpherson Memorial to Creagan an Fhithich. The mapped corridor is about 0.64 mile each way, so the full return is roughly 1.3 miles. Allow about an hour. Follow the blue waymarkers into the forest; after about 165 metres, a fingerpost points right for the viewpoint spur.

The climbThe track starts gently, then turns into a long, fairly steep climb.

The track starts gently, then turns into a long, fairly steep climb. Expect rough, rutted ground and muddy patches; the short distance does not make this a gentle forest stroll. From April through August, keep dogs on a short lead or close to heel near ground-nesting birds and livestock; stay out of fields with young lambs.

Creagan an FhithichThe open summit has a cairn and bench, with broad views over Badenoch toward the Cairngorms.

The open summit has a cairn and bench, with broad views over Badenoch toward the Cairngorms. Creagan an Fhithich means “the crag of the raven.” For the clearest sense of the view, look west over the winding Spey valley, then turn northeast toward the higher hills.
