Best time to visit
Spring is the standout season for common heath and spike wattle, with pied currawongs and kookaburras often heard around camp. Autumn brings cooler walking weather and warm light through the trees. Early morning is best for quiet, bird activity, and soft light on the granite; late afternoon gives the shelter and surrounding ridges more colour. Winter can feel exposed and damp in this high country, so plan for cold nights and changing weather rather than expecting a comfortable easy camp.
