Trail guide
A 1.8 km loop from Sundial Carpark with a short lookout spur that is walked out and back inside the circuit. Allow about 1 hour, with 45 minutes possible at a steady pace.
Walking the circuit anti-clockwise is the commonly described direction and keeps the route easy to follow.
The lookout is the reason to come. It opens out across the Fyans Valley, over Lake Bellfield and to the Mount William Range. In spring, the track is known for a large variety of wildflowers.
Rated moderate despite the short distance. The track is unpaved and uneven, with some climbing and rocky footing in places. Total relief is modest, roughly 30 m between the low and high points on the circuit, but it comes in short pinches rather than as a flat stroll. The route is well defined and clear on the ground, so navigation is straightforward. Closed footwear with grip is worth wearing.
Drive to the end of Sundial Road and park at Sundial Carpark, which is the start and finish of the loop.
