Best time to go

Splitters Falls is seasonal and can be dry in summer. Spring and the days after substantial rain are the best bets for flowing water, and spring can add wildflowers along the way. If the falls are low, the gorge, creek and native bushland still carry the walk.

Safety

Slippery surfaces, unstable cliffs, steep steps, rocky creekside footing and drop-offs. Ordinary pets, camping and fires are prohibited.

From the carpark access, follow the connected Wonderland Loop Walk into rocky terrain and a gorge, tracking alongside Stony Creek. Watch for the signed Splitters Falls turnoff, which leads the last stretch to the waterfall. The falls are the payoff and the turnaround point, then you retrace the same corridor back to the car.

Footing and effortShort does not mean easy here.

Short does not mean easy here. Expect rocky ground, steep stairs, handrails and steps on the harder sections, and some uneven creekside footing. Sturdy shoes with grip make a noticeable difference, and the stairs are the main effort on an otherwise brief walk.

AccessBegin at Wonderland Carpark on Wonderland Road, off Mount Victory Road.

  • Slippery surfaces and unstable cliffs are official warnings for this area, so keep to the track and away from edges.
  • Rocky footing, steep steps and creekside drop-offs are permanent features, not occasional ones.

  • No fires, no camping and no bicycles on this route.
Choosing the right variantThis is the short carpark-to-falls version.

This is the short carpark-to-falls version. The Halls Gap approach to the same waterfall is a much longer walk, and the nearby Wonderland and Pinnacle routes are a longer, more strenuous day. Pick this one when you want the gorge and waterfall in about an hour.
