Windigo Marina is the dock in Washington Harbor at Isle Royale's southwestern end, about 22 miles from Minnesota's shoreline. Ferries from Grand Portage land here, and private boaters use the dock as their arrival point to the island. The marina has boat fuel, drinking water and a picnic table. For a private boat, get the required park boating permit and pay the daily fee before using park waters.
This is a practical landing in a remote island harbor, with protected water and a forested shore around the dock. Sunsets across Washington Harbor and commonly seen wildlife give this working marina its scenic side.
