Leave the South Loch Earn Road at Ardvorlich and follow the landrover track past Ardvorlich House through open and wooded estate ground, fields and gates. It continues toward the hydro scheme’s header dam. Cross the Coire Buidhe burn by the footbridge, then traverse open, wet heathland on a built path with ditches and a raised centre designed to shed water. The path was rebuilt after water damaged its earlier line. The engineered tread eventually gives way higher on the ridge to a broad, rough line made by hillwalkers on scree. It climbs in two steep sections and can braid near the summit cairn, where several narrow lines may look equally convincing. The summit trig point marks 985 m. Views open over Loch Earn and Ben Lawers as you climb, then spread south toward Stirling and the Forth; the Pentlands are visible on a clear day. On the descent, look north along the rocky ridge with Loch Earn below: that foreground shows the height of the climb better than a wide shot of distant hills.
