Parking

The Kates Falls spur junction has no car parking. The Park Service recommends Glade Creek Campground, 4.6 trail miles from the junction each way; include the spur and the return for about 9.6 miles total. Upper Glade Creek Trailhead is nearer at 1.1 trail miles each way (about 2.6 miles total with the spur), but its steep, narrow, winding, unpaved access road is recommended only for high-clearance four-wheel drive and is unsuitable for most vehicles.

Safety

The spur is steep and strenuous, with rocky footing and stone steps. Stay on the path; the rocks around the waterfall are steep and can be slippery. Keep pets on a physical leash no longer than six feet, and do not drink untreated stream water.
