PNT 19 Majúa Trail

PNT 19 Majúa is a 4.18 km (2.60-mile) point-to-point walk from TF-21 km 43.3 near the Teleférico del Teide to the Parador at km 46. It descends gently across the high Cañadas, with about 20 m of climbing and 166 m down. The marked walking time is 90 minutes, and the route is classed as low difficulty. This is the full one-way distance, not a loop, so arrange transport between the start and finish before setting out.

The path skirts the pale pumice cone of Montaña Majúa, then curves by lava flows before dropping into Cañada Blanca. The pale cone, dark rock and open scrub give this stretch its character. For a photo, keep a little path and broom in the foreground; the cone reads better against the darker lava and caldera wall.

Teide white broom dominates the high scrub, with codeso and rosalillo de cumbre among the other plants named along the route. The park also points out remains of pastoral huts from historic times; some may be pre-Hispanic. Leave the stones where they are.

Near the end, the route crosses La Cañada del volcán del Depósito and finishes on the road to the Parador. It is a high-country traverse, not a summit hike. Beside the finish, the small Ermita de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves was built in 1954; a white-marble figure of the Virgin stands above its altar.

The start is TF-21 km 43.3, near the cable-car base. A café, buffet restaurant, shop and public toilets are at that base, not along the trail. Parking is listed at two viewpoints near the start and at both the Parador and Mirador de La Ruleta near the finish. Since the route is one way, plan your pickup or other transport first. Access is ordinarily free and does not require a reservation.
