Parking
The trailhead is at La Rambleta, the upper cable-car station. Park at the lower cable-car station and use the separate cable car to reach it; walking to La Rambleta is a much longer approach.

Teide National Park, TF
A short, high-altitude walk to Teide’s red northern rim.
Overview
PNT 11 Mirador de la Fortaleza is a 0.72-mile (1.16-kilometre) out-and-back from La Rambleta to a viewpoint on Teide’s northern rim. The marked route runs about 0.36 mile one way; you return along the same path. It’s an easy add-on if you’re already at the upper station, but don’t judge it by the mileage: the whole walk sits around 3,550 metres. Published estimates range from 25 to 45 minutes; allow about 45 minutes so you have time to catch your breath and look around.

Trail guide
Green panels mark PNT 11 across open volcanic ground. The track rises and dips over loose, uneven stone, with short steep sections rather than one long climb. It rates as a medium walk and isn’t considered accessible for people with reduced mobility. At this height, even modest effort can feel harder than it would lower down. Take the shortness of the walk as a convenience, not a sign that the terrain is flat.
At the end, the red crags of La Fortaleza sit in the foreground, with the Orotava Valley, northern coast and Anaga Massif beyond. The reddish rock formed when thick phonolitic lava accumulated around a volcanic vent. Trade-wind clouds often collect below this side of Teide, making the island look as if it’s floating above a white sea. On especially clear days you may pick out Gran Canaria; Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are occasional farther horizons, not a sure thing. For a photo, keep the red escarpment in front and the coast or cloud layer behind it.
The trailhead is the upper cable-car station at La Rambleta, not the parking area below. Most visitors reach it by the separate cable car; walking up to La Rambleta means a much longer hike. PNT 11 itself is free and doesn’t require a reservation. The upper station has toilets, Wi-Fi and a public phone, but no café; the lower station has parking and food service. No meal stop is documented along the trail.
