The Teide Bivouac Area is a narrow authorized bivouac zone on the final stretch of PNT 07, at 3,523–3,529 metres. The strip is about 100 by 20 metres, with several small sheltered spots beside a lava flow. It's an open-air overnight stop: tents, flysheets and similar shelters aren't allowed.

A serious climb with two permissionsYou reach it on foot via PNT 07, an 8.2-kilometre climb from TF-21 at kilometre 40.

You reach it on foot via PNT 07, an 8.2-kilometre climb from TF-21 at kilometre 40.6 to La Rambleta, with 1,309 metres of ascent and steep pitches near Lomo Tieso. Reserve both the bivouac area and the trail; one booking doesn't cover the other. The bivouac authorization doesn't allow the PNT 10 summit-crater route, which needs its own permission. Overnight use runs from sunset or 19:00 until sunrise or 08:00.

Pumice, lava and Teide's EggsThe climb moves from pale pumice to young black lava flows near the summit.

The climb moves from pale pumice to young black lava flows near the summit. Along the route, rounded volcanic blocks called Los Huevos del Teide are fragments of magma that rolled down from the vent. Above about 3,400 metres, vegetation thins sharply; magarza and the Teide violet still grow here.

Prepare for an exposed nightAt more than 3,500 metres, prepare for cold, wind and strong sun.

At more than 3,500 metres, prepare for cold, wind and strong sun. Bring warm layers, water, food and a headlamp. This is a strenuous high-altitude route and is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.
