Uluṟu: Mala Walk and Kaṉtju Gorge“You're approaching Mala carpark at the base of Uluṟu. For a close look without spending the whole morning walking, I'd choose the Mala Walk to Kaṉtju Gorge: two kilometres return, allowing about ninety minutes.”

Trail guide
Punu Walk is a brief, unpaved path beside Mala Carpark, with Uluṟu in view. The exact-name mapped path is 0.35 mile (0.56 km) end to end, and takes about 30 minutes with a pause. Its endpoints are roughly 60 m apart in the carpark area. Trail descriptions round it to 0.3–0.4 mile and one calls it a loop; the final connector is not shown on the mapped path, so treat 0.35 mile as the named path length and confirm the return on site.
Descriptions of Punu say it interprets traditional Aṉangu uses of plants and trees, but current signs and individual species are unconfirmed. Expect a quick look at desert vegetation rather than a guaranteed plant lesson. The separate Mala Walk is a 2 km return route from this carpark to Kaṉtju Gorge if you want a longer walk.
Start at Mala Carpark. The trail is described as easy, though the path is unpaved. The current park walking overview does not name Punu, and the last connector is not confirmed; check local wayfinding before setting out. Dogs are not permitted in the park; assistance dogs may enter on a leash no longer than 3 m.
