Housekeeping Camp is a seasonal lodging area in central Yosemite Valley, with 266 three-sided concrete units under canvas roofs and covered patios near the Merced River. It suits you if you want beds, electricity and campfire cooking without pitching a tent. The units are open-front shelters, so you still sleep outdoors, with the temperature and sound of neighboring units.
A standard unit has a double bed, a bunk bed, a table, chairs, lights and electrical outlets; up to two cots can be added for six people. Linens aren't included, but bedding packs can be rented. There's no refrigerator. Each unit has a fire ring with a grill grate and a bear-proof food locker.
These are the only Yosemite accommodations where outdoor cooking is permitted. The camp store carries convenience groceries and camping supplies, and firewood is sold at the registration office. Put all scented items in the bear-proof locker, including food, drinks, coolers, toiletries and trash.
