Follow the meadows to RagertalmJust beyond Klausbachhaus, the route leaves the asphalt for open pasture and light woodland.

Just beyond Klausbachhaus, the route leaves the asphalt for open pasture and light woodland. Flower-rich meadows and juniper line the way, and the Golden Eagle and Bearded Vulture observation point makes a worthwhile pause about 20 minutes from the start. The valley approach is gentle; the final climb to the alm is noticeably steeper. The marked route continues past the Lahnwald hut junction, crosses a stream, and reaches Ragertalm before turning back.

A working valley with a good stopping pointRagertalm is a traditional alpine farm with mountain views.

Ragertalm is a traditional alpine farm with mountain views. In its seasonal operating period, the alm is known for simple cold food such as Kasbrot; check locally before counting on a meal. The valley road also carried salt over Hirschbichl Pass from Berchtesgaden toward Salzburg, and today hikers share parts of the corridor with cyclists. Keep dogs leashed throughout the national park.
