“You're nearing the Halls Gap Recreation Reserve area, the walking access for Chatauqua Peak and Clematis Falls. Head for the reserve and the signed path by the oval, rather than trying to drive to the waterfall itself.”

The track traverses the escarpment on the eastern side of Fyans Creek, linking the Delleys Bridge access on Grampians Road with the southern Tandara Road side near Brambuk. The payoff is steady rather than dramatic: a narrow dirt path threading through woodland, weathered rock outcrops close to the trail edge, ferns and grasses crowding the verges, and canopy overhead for much of the corridor. Sampled heights along the route sit roughly in the 227 to 276 m band, which means real undulation but no sustained major climb.

Anyone using a mobility aid, or walking with small children who tire on uneven ground, should treat the steps and boardwalk as the deciding factors.

  • Rated easy to moderate for ordinary walkers, scoring 4/10 here.
  • Officially track grade 3, with a TrailRider grade of Advanced, so it is not flat and not fully accessible.
  • Gradient is undulating with short steep rises and descents.
  • Surface is natural, with rocks, roots and a gravel base.
  • Steps appear at the southern end just after crossing Fyans Creek, and again on the steel boardwalk.
  • There are no seats anywhere along the track, so pace yourself if you need frequent rest.

The stored route begins at Delleys Bridge on Grampians Road, Halls Gap and finishes near the southern Tandara Road connection. Documented start and finish options are Brambuk Cultural Centre, Tandara Road, or Delleys Bridge, and parking depends on which end you choose. Note that there is no verified dedicated trailhead car park at the Delleys Bridge coordinate itself; the coordinate marks the access point on the road, not a formal lot.

Because the track is one way, you will need to arrange a pickup at the far end, retrace the 2.7 km back to your car, or continue on the adjacent path network to close the gap on foot.

Optional extensionIf you want a longer outing, the track can be linked with the Halls Gap Bike Path and/or the…

If you want a longer outing, the track can be linked with the Halls Gap Bike Path and/or the Venus Baths track to build a half or full day walk. Treat that purely as an add-on: the trail described here is the 2.7 km one-way section only.

PetsDogs and domestic pets are not permitted.

Dogs and domestic pets are not permitted. Parks Victoria welcomes assistance dogs in the park subject to the entry requirements that apply to national parks where dogs are otherwise prohibited. Being close to town does not change this rule.
