Alto de La Fortaleza is a small natural viewpoint on the western foothills of La Fortaleza, in northern Teide National Park. The path reaches a rocky balcony along the outcrop, about 100 m above La Cañada de Los Guancheros. Keep it for a slower day when you want a north-facing look at Teide; this is a walk, not a roadside pullout.

Reach the viewpoint on foot on PNT-36, the loop from La Degollada del Cedro. It covers 2.19 km and takes about 1 hour 10 minutes, with roughly 93 m of ascent and descent. The route is rated low difficulty, but it crosses uneven ground with loose rocks and steep slopes, and it is not accessible for people with reduced mobility. Stay on the marked path.

The view runs across the Abeque highlands toward Teno, with the mountains above San Juan de la Rambla in between. La Palma sits on the horizon when conditions are clear. For a photo, keep some of the rust-colored outcrop in the foreground with Teide beyond it; that rocky edge is the natural balcony, and it gives the wide view a sense of place. The park singles out sunset here, so leave time for the walk back if you plan to catch one.

Pines give way to mountaintop plantsBehind La Fortaleza, a dense belt of Canary Island pine runs along the Abeque ridge toward Teno.

Behind La Fortaleza, a dense belt of Canary Island pine runs along the Abeque ridge toward Teno. On the higher plateau, the plants grow low and bring color in spring; they are more typical of Canary Island mountaintops than the pine forest nearby.
