Restaurante El Portillo is a roadside restaurant on the TF-21 in El Portillo, near the park's northern visitor center. It's a convenient place to eat while crossing the park, but the food and service can be uneven, so I'd choose it for convenience rather than make a special detour.
Canarian cooking is the draw. Dishes associated with the stop include goat, rabbit in salmorejo, papas with mojo, and grilled cheese with mojo. Check what is available when you arrive; the current menu wasn't verified.
It began as Merendero El Portillo, a picnic and refreshment stop opened in the early 1960s by Juana Santos and Toribio Quintero of La Orotava. Their sons later took it over and also ran Restaurante Bambi.
