It climbs to Degollada del Cedro, the pass between the El Cabezón and La Fortaleza escarpments. Past the notch, the tread becomes a forest track descending the Tigaiga mountainside to the park boundary. The elevation ranges from about 1,973 to 2,086 metres; the walk gains roughly 53 metres and loses about 116 overall.

The route opens views toward the Tigaiga slopes, La Fortaleza and La Orotava Valley, with the caldera and Teide in the wider panorama. At the pass, look back to see the two escarpments frame the notch that gives the trail its name. The route is short and officially rated low difficulty, but loose stones, uneven ground and steep slopes call for care. Keep to the marked line, especially where it crosses or runs beside tracks shared with cyclists, horses or vehicles.
