Jumbie Beach is a small north-shore cove, about 100 yards long, on Route 20 roughly two miles east of Cruz Bay. A short wooded path with rustic steps drops from the road to the sand. The few roadside spaces are across the road and the entrance is easy to miss, so look for it as you approach. The narrow path and steps are a poor fit for wheels. There are no beach facilities beyond trash cans; bring food and drinks and plan for a restroom elsewhere.

North-shore trade winds can make the water choppy, and snorkeling may be poor when the surf is up. If swimming or snorkeling is the point of your stop, choose a calmer day and check conditions first. On calmer days, fish and coral around the rocky points can make the water more interesting, but they are not a sure thing.

Sea grapes edge the short strip of sand, with filtered shade beneath the trees and a smooth, cement-like beach-rock ledge through the middle. Sandy entries sit on either side of it. The cove looks across toward Trunk Bay and nearby cays; include the tree-fringed shore as well as the water to show the bay's shape. Visitors often value Jumbie's quieter, smaller feel compared with busy Trunk Bay, though rough water can change the mood quickly.

A local account traces “Jumbie” to “djambe,” a spirit in Caribbean folklore. It also says lovers once used the cove as a rendezvous when the north shore was reached by donkey trail, giving it the nickname Honeymoon Beach; Salomon Bay was once used for the whole bay. Treat these as local stories rather than official park history, but they give the small beach a past beyond its quiet shoreline.
