Oberon Bay is a long, sandy beach on Wilsons Promontory’s exposed west coast, south of Little Oberon Bay. Its pale shoreline curves beneath steep, dark-green hills. It’s a hike-in destination, not a roadside detour: the Tidal River return route is about 17 km, with roughly 4 km along the beach.

From Tidal River, the coastal track climbs through tea-tree around Norman Point, drops to Little Oberon Bay, then climbs and descends to Oberon Bay. Growler Creek meets the sand at the north end; make that crossing at low tide. The beach is framed by steep hills, with large granite slabs along its southern end. For a photo, fit the pale sweep of sand and the dark headlands in one frame; that shows how the hills wrap around the bay.

Go self-containedPlan on an all-day walk.

Plan on an all-day walk. Bring the water you need: the nearby hike-in campsite has limited tank water, which is unreliable and needs treatment, and its toilets are not on the beach. You can also reach the bay by inland track from Telegraph Junction. Check current track and creek advice before setting out.
