Oberon Bay Camping Area is a small, hike-in bush campground on the west side of Wilsons Promontory, set among tea trees just behind Oberon Bay. It suits walkers who want to camp close to the coast; reaching it means carrying your overnight kit in rather than driving up.

Tucked behind the duneSmall, secluded tent pockets sit back in the scrub, with a more communal area farther along.

Small, secluded tent pockets sit back in the scrub, with a more communal area farther along. The tea trees give camp a sheltered feel, while the beach just beyond can be exposed and windy. A short walk from camp reaches the sand at Oberon Bay.

Plan for a self-sufficient nightWalk in from Tidal River by the coastal route or from Telegraph Junction by the inland track.

Walk in from Tidal River by the coastal route or from Telegraph Junction by the inland track. The Tidal River approach crosses a creek, so Parks Victoria recommends making that crossing at low tide. Overnight hikers need a permit and can stay up to two consecutive nights; groups are limited to 12. Toilets are provided, but the tank water is limited and unreliable and needs treatment. Carry enough water, food and camping gear; vehicles cannot reach the camp.
