Prom Wildlife Viewing Area is a grassy roadside stop on Wilsons Promontory Road, where people pull off to look for wild animals. Kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and emus are all possible sightings. It is an easy option when you want a chance to see wildlife without setting out on a hike. The animals are free to roam, so treat it as a possibility, not a guaranteed show.

Look across the open grass and give the area a quiet few minutes; visitors report animals sometimes wander out when it is calm. The field gives you a clear view for photos if wildlife appears. Keep your distance and never feed them: human food harms wildlife, and animals can become dangerous to people. If you prefer to stay in the car, face the field and wait quietly. Pull off the road safely before watching, and don't follow an animal into the scrub for a closer look. Kangaroo sightings can be better near sunset across the wider park, but that is no schedule or promise for this stop.

This is the roadside viewing area, not the separate Prom Wildlife Walk, though that route begins here. It is a flat Grade 2 loop of 2.3 kilometres, about 45 minutes return, so it makes an easy add-on if you'd like a short wander after watching. For a quick wildlife check, you can skip the circuit. There are parking spaces beside the grassy area, but no toilets on site; the closest are at Darby River car park, 5 kilometres away.
