Overview
The Jack Albright Loop is a quieter 3.5-mile circuit from the Humpback Rocks Trailhead at Humpback Gap. It climbs through hardwood forest over Dobie Mountain, uses a southbound section of the Appalachian Trail, and returns to the parking area on the connector trail. An optional spur reaches Glass Hollow Overlook for a valley view without changing the core loop.

Trail guide
Start at the Humpback Rocks Trailhead and follow the blue-blazed Albright Trail. After roughly 1.9 miles, join the white-blazed Appalachian Trail and turn south; the loop returns through the connector to Humpback Gap. Expect sustained climbing and descending, roots, rocks, and occasional uneven footing. The overlook spur and the nearby Paul C. Wolfe Shelter are optional side interests rather than separate parts of the stored loop.
The main draw is a quieter forest route near the much busier Humpback Rocks hike, with changing hardwood scenery, Appalachian Trail character, and a possible view from Glass Hollow Overlook. Keep the route and its distance convention distinct from the longer Dobie Mountain/Jack Albright extensions in the area.
Parking at Humpback Gap is limited and can fill on weekends; the Humpback Rocks Visitor Center and Mountain Farm area about 0.2 miles north provide additional parking when available. Dogs are allowed on the trail. Bring a map or GPS at the Albright–AT junction, and use care on wet rocks, roots, and any slick creek or drainage crossings. Seasonal visitor-center restrooms and water may not be available outside operating periods.
