Sawmill Ridge Overlook is a scenic pullout on Skyline Drive, facing southwest across Shenandoah's south district. Near milepost 95.5, it works as a short pause in the drive when you want one broad view without adding a separate outing.
The overlook sits at 2,215 feet. Look across from left to right: Calf Mountain; Scott Mountain farther back; Ramsey Mountain ahead; then Sawmill Ridge closer on the right, climbing toward Turk Mountain. Once you know the order, the overlapping ridges read like a map instead of one continuous forest.
A wide horizontal photo is the useful choice here. Keep Sawmill Ridge on the right as a near layer and leave room for the farther ranges across the middle; the nearer ridge gives the panorama depth.
Augusta County funds maintenance of this overlook through the Shenandoah National Park Trust's Adopt an Overlook program. The funding is for the view itself, a reminder that the opening is part of the attraction, not just a gap in the trees.
