Trayfoot Mountain Overlook is a roadside viewpoint on Skyline Drive, looking south across wooded ridges. I’d make it a short pause if you’re taking the scenic drive slowly; it’s a view stop, not a destination to build a day around. Park admission is required on Skyline Drive, and bad weather can close the road.
Cedar and Pasture Fence Mountains sit in the distance. Trayfoot Mountain itself is across Skyline Drive and far to the right, so the overlook and the mountain summit are separate stops.
The south-facing view is especially colorful in fall, when orange and gold trees cover the near slopes and the ridges fade blue toward the horizon. Frame some foreground foliage along the lower edge to keep those layers in the picture.
