“You're coming up on Minas de San José, where pale pumice lies beside dark lava. This was an open-cast mining area, and the former workings left the broad, light-colored ground you see today.”

Hiking PNT 30 Los Valles Trail

What this trail isPNT 30 Los Valles is a 3.

PNT 30 Los Valles is a 3.06-mile point-to-point walk from Mirador de las Minas de San José to Cañada de Las Pilas, below the Las Cañadas caldera wall. It starts in old pumice workings, then drops through the small valleys of Los Valles toward the Siete Cañadas trail. It gives you a close look at the park’s pumice workings and smaller valleys, if you’ve arranged how to get back from the far end.

The route loses about 350 m overall, with roughly 100 m of climbing mixed in. The first stretch crosses ground where pumice was mined for decades; after that, the path descends across volcanic slopes and Canary high-mountain scrub. It’s listed as an easy hike, but loose stones, uneven ground and steep sections mean it’s not a casual paved walk.
