Overview
Priesbergalm is a high alpine pasture and refreshment hut above Königssee near Jenner, stretching from about 1,330 metres to more than 1,500. Its draw is a traditional snack made with cheese from the pasture’s own milk and a direct view toward the Watzmann East Face. From Hinterbrand, the well-maintained Königsweg reaches the alm in about two hours; the official route listing gives 11.7 km, 437 m of ascent and around four hours. Jennerbahn’s mid-station or summit station shortens the walk. Treat the hut as a simple snack stop, with food selection and service that can vary, and carry what you need for the hike.

Guide
The high ground is grazed in the height of summer. At the beginning and end of the grazing season, cattle stay at the lower Königsbachalm. Bavarian alpine farming is recognized as intangible cultural heritage, and Priesbergalm is one of the working pastures that keeps that tradition visible. At the far end, a narrow trail continues toward Gotzenalm via Unterer Hirschenlauf or toward Seeleinsee and Kahlersberg via Stiergraben; those are onward mountain routes.
A separate Grassl gentian distillery hut stands a few metres beyond the alm. In summer, gentian roots are dug by hand, chopped, mashed and distilled there; alpine distiller Max Irlinger spends much of the season on the pasture. The hut is a small piece of local craft alongside the grazing and dairy work.
The Watzmann East Face rises across from the alm, a rugged rock wall about 1,800 metres high. Green Hohe Roßfelder meadows stretch above Priesbergalm below Fagstein, and the flat, marshy Priesbergmoos lies below the traditional huts.
