Use the Mine Trail parking/access on Miette Road, about 200 m from the Highway 16 intersection. Trailer drop-off is in the Lower Mine Trail Parking lot; Miette Road is narrow and winding.
Overview
About Pocahontas Mine Trail
Trail 31 is the easy lower loop through the former Pocahontas (Miette) mine site. The 900 m (0.6 mi) loop starts at the Mine Trailhead on Miette Road, about 200 m from the intersection with Highway 16, and takes about 20 minutes. It is mostly flat and paved, with interpretive views of the overgrown historic mine site and surrounding forest. The separate Trail 32 upper loop is 1.7 km (45 minutes) and is not included in this route. Punchbowl Falls is a separate extension from the upper-trail area, not part of the lower loop.

- Short 900 m loop with mine-site history
- Mostly flat and paved; a rare wheelchair-friendly walk in the area
