Trail guide
The SA PMR 04 is a loop through Jardín Botánico Wolfredo Wildpret, starting and ending at Centro de Visitantes del Portillo. The route line embedded with the park's map measures about 0.5 mile (0.81 km), while the same route page lists 400 m. Plan for the longer mapped circuit and about 25 minutes at an easy pace. This is a short botanical-garden stop, not a mountain hike.
The four-hectare garden represents more than 75% of Teide National Park's higher plant species. Labels identify the plants, and the collection supports research and propagation, including germination chambers and a germplasm bank for endangered-species recovery. It honors Canarian botanist Wolfredo Wildpret de la Torre. On the open garden paths, Mount Teide rises behind the rocky planting beds.
The park describes the signed route as accessible and low difficulty, with about 11 m of ascent and descent. Its mapped line is mostly on fine-gravel paths, with a short concrete access section; the page does not give grades or detailed surface conditions. The garden connects with longer park trails, so follow the garden-loop signs if you want to stay on this short circuit.
Access is free and does not require a reservation. The adjacent visitor centre is accessible on both levels and has adapted toilets. The route page identifies two marked parking spaces for authorized vehicles, but does not describe general parking capacity.
