Izaña Viewpoint

Izaña Viewpoint is a roadside panorama on the TF-514 spur, close to Teide’s observatories. The view takes in volcanic cones both inside and outside Las Cañadas, with stratovolcanoes beyond them. I’d stop if you like reading a landscape; it’s a brief, geology-focused break, lower priority than the park’s headline sights.

From TF-24 at km 37.1, take TF-514 and continue about 500 m. There’s a parking area and interpretive panels to help identify the forms in view.

The useful distinction is how they formed. Some cones here are monogenetic, made in a single eruption; Teide and Montaña Blanca are stratovolcanoes built through successive eruptions. The dark Siete Fuentes and Fasnia cones add a local chapter: eruptions began at Siete Fuentes in 1704 and reached Fasnia in 1705.

For a photo, keep one of the low foreground cones or ridges in frame with Teide behind it. The smaller forms make the mountain’s scale clearer than a tight summit shot.
