Corral del Niño and the Fasnia Cones“Corral del Niño Viewpoint is coming up, with observatory towers and volcanic cones sharing the skyline. Pull in for a short look if the view is clear; cloud can hide much of the scene.”

Trail guide
PNT 21 is a 4.0-mile (6.42 km) one-way walk from Mirador de Corral del Niño to Montaña de Igueque. The park rates it low difficulty and gives it about two hours, with roughly 615 feet of climbing and 840 feet of descent. It suits a half-day plan for volcanic upland and open views, especially if you already have a ride waiting at the far end. It is not a loop: the finish is separate from the start, and there is no parking there, so sort out your return before setting off.
The route leaves the viewpoint on a forest track toward Montaña Limón. The park describes views of volcanic cones with Teide rising behind them; on a clear day, La Palma can also appear on the horizon. Stay on the marked route as it passes the former Choza de José Ruiz de Izaña and reaches the last climb.
The trail zigzags uphill through dense broom to the road at Roque del Mal Abrigo, then climbs onto the Yegua Blanca ridge. The park advises watching for loose rock, uneven ground and steep slopes, so “low difficulty” still means careful footing. This route is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.
Strong winds have twisted the ridge pines until many grow close to the ground. They are the walk’s most distinctive detail; frame a few against the open volcanic slopes rather than photographing only the skyline. From Yegua Blanca, the path winds down toward Montaña de Igueque. There are no nearby services at either end, so bring the water and food you need for the walk.
