Boca Tauce to Refugio de Chasogo Trail

Casa de Chasogo is accessible only on foot, so arrange a pickup or expect to retrace the route; walking back to Boca Tauce makes about 16.6 km total. The published 2 hour 10 minute estimate covers the shorter PR branch, not the full Boca Tauce start. Independent walkers do not need a reservation. The small parking area is at Museo Etnográfico Juan Évora; bus route 342 stops about 300 m away. The route information checked does not establish whether pets are allowed, so confirm before bringing one.

The opening malpaís crosses rough volcanic ground. Along eroded lava-flow edges are disused beehive seats and Era de la Fajana de Charagueche, an old threshing floor built on ropy pāhoehoe lava. Keep to the marked trail across this uneven section.

Paso de Charagueche is a narrow passage into pine forest. The route descends a ridge through Canary Island pine, then opens beside a ravine at Era de Cho Juan de Chío, also called Era de los Guanches. An old track leads to the foot of Montaña de Chasogo and the refuge. The trail stays at high elevation, around 1,700–2,100 m, with rocky footing, steep slopes, ravines and possible rockfall; it is classified as inaccessible to people with reduced mobility.
