Trail guide
PNT 41 is a 0.62-mile (1 km) point-to-point walk from the Juan Évora Ethnographic Museum to the channel at the head of Barranco de Erques. The descent takes about 45 minutes. It drops from high volcanic ground into the ravine; this mapped section is one way, not a loop.
The route loses about 145 meters over a short distance. If you leave a car at the museum, retracing the same path makes the outing about 1.24 miles round trip and adds the steep climb back. The endpoint is reached on foot, so arrange your own pickup or budget for the return walk; 45 minutes is the one-way estimate.
Start beside the museum on TF-21 at km 53.5. Its small car park has very few spaces and there are no nearby services. Access to this trail is free and does not require a reservation. The route is not accessible for people with reduced mobility; park guidance advises avoiding it in rainy conditions. Pets are prohibited in the national park, except guide dogs.
The restored house at the trailhead belonged to Juan Évora, remembered as the last inhabitant of Las Cañadas del Teide. It now holds a small exhibition about the area’s former herding life. The walk ends where the ravine channel begins, with volcanic walls and scattered pines at the upper gorge.
